About Alert Boundaries
Zone Alert Boundaries
Alert notifications leverage a combination of zone and county boundaries. This geography offers broader coverage compared to vector based boundaries and may allow you additional time to prepare by potentially notifying you earlier about severe weather heading towards your general area (instead of when it is already almost on top of you). Please be aware that NOAA can issue distinct weather alerts to zones or counties. Although the app automatically determines the correct NOAA zone and county alert boundaries it is important to make certain that both layers are adequately covered:
Identified as a single area (never followed by either "County" or "Parish"), or as a list containing multiple alert areas i.e.
County Alert Boundaries
